Mid-Columbia Fire & Rescue approves Burn Ban That Will Start on June 1st

The decision came at the Fire Board's regular meeting on Monday, May 17. Chief Bob Palmer said the ban start date falls in line with bans in Hood River and Sherman counties. "We had a ground fire yesterday in Cherry Heights," Palmer said during the meeting. "It was moderately active and in another few weeks it would have been more so... it got into a structure. "Wasco County is showing areas of extreme, severe and moderate drought,” according to the National Oceanic and Atmosphere Administrations website.
