‘No Kings III’ rally set for March 28 in Gorge as organizers prepare across U.S.

The Dalles, Ore., March 11, 2026 — A nationwide wave of “No Kings” protests is planned for Saturday, March 28, with demonstrations expected in thousands of cities and towns across the United States — including several communities throughout the Columbia River Gorge.

Organizers say the third national “No Kings” day of action will bring together millions of participants to protest what they describe as authoritarian actions by President Donald Trump’s administration and recent federal immigration enforcement operations. Previous nationwide demonstrations in the series drew more than five million participants in June 2025 and roughly seven million people across more than 2,700 events in October 2025.

The March 28 mobilization — sometimes referred to by organizers as “No Kings III” — is expected to include rallies in communities large and small, with a flagship demonstration planned in Minneapolis.

Several events are planned locally, including a rally and march in The Dalles.

The Dalles residents are expected to join thousands of demonstrations across the country as part of the nationwide day of action.

The local protest is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Participants will gather near West 8th Street and Cherry Heights at 11:30 a.m., with a march beginning at noon to West 6th Street between Cherry Heights Road and Webber Street.

The event is being organized by Protect Oregon’s Progress, a Columbia Gorge chapter affiliated with the national organization Indivisible.

“Our community is collaborating to push back against President Trump’s violent, authoritarian actions,” said Linda Kentro, a member of the Protect Oregon’s Progress steering committee. “We’re bringing together local residents from all walks of life who share a simple message: We don’t do dictators or kings in America.”

File Photo - October 2025 - June Hansen came to Oregon for a half-marathon but found herself standing in solidarity at the Hood River rally. “Trump seems to think that he’s, like, the end all be all,” she said. “He’s got the last word on everything, and that shouldn’t be. This is a democracy. This isn’t a king.” Hansen said she was there “to protect the rights of people coming up after me,” especially those often targeted. “Transgender, Latinos — I mean everybody,” she said. “That’s why I’m here.”

Indivisible is part of a national coalition organizing the protests alongside groups including the American Civil Liberties Union, American Federation of Teachers, Human Rights Campaign, League of Conservation Voters, MoveOn, National Nurses United, Public Citizen and SEIU.

Organizers say all No Kings events emphasize nonviolent protest and coordinated safety planning, including trained de-escalation teams and designated safety leads at local demonstrations.

Additional rallies are planned across the Columbia Gorge region on March 28.
