Schools out; Pool’s Open Daily in TD

The Dalles, Ore, June 7, 2024 – Northern Wasco County Aquatic Center will be open daily starting June 8th! The community is invited to come out and swim to celebrate the start of the summer season! Not into swimming? Northern Wasco County Parks & Recreation has plenty of other land-based events planned for this summer. Scroll through the schedule below to find out more!
Aquatic Center’s Summer Schedule
Open Play Swim & Lap Swim
Mon/Wed/Fri: 1-5 p.m. & 6-8 p.m.
Tue/Thu/Sat/Sun: 1-6 p.m.
Swimming and diving areas are open to all ages.
Non-Swimmers and children under 48 inches in height must have a parent or guardian in the water within arm's reach at all times. Enjoy 140 feet of water slide fun and a deep water aqua-climbing wall! There will be at least two lanes available for lap swim during this activity.

Long Course Lap Swim
Mon-Fri: 10 a.m.-12:45 p.m.
For those of all skills and abilities who wish to swim laps to improve or maintain fitness and health. Great for cardiorespiratory fitness. Swim at your own pace or enjoy camaraderie of working-out with others. Long course lap swim (50m) times are identified on the daily schedule.
Ted Walker Invitational Swim Meet June 21-23 (Pool Closed)
The facility will be closed for the Ted Walker Invitational Swim Meet from June 21-23— there will be no open swim from June 21 to 23.
Swim Lessons
Swim lessons begin on June 17 and end on August 9. Swim lessons are taught to youth ages 6 months - 12 years old. Swim lesson sessions meet for 30 minutes in two-week groupings.

The Dalles Swim Team (TDST) is a USA Swimming affiliated swim team serving youth ages 4-18 years old. Additional information can be found on their website.

Music & Magic in the Park 2024
6 p.m. Wednesdays June 19-August 14 at The Dalles City Park
These family-friendly events are held in partnership with the Wasco County Public Library and will be at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday evenings, June 19th through August 14th (no event on July 3rd). Each week will feature a different performer, always family-friendly, and it’s always free of charge.
We encourage families to bring a picnic supper and come prepared to have fun! Warning to parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, and other adults: you may be required to get up and participate by dancing, singing, or some other silly activity.

June 19th: Joe Black- Magician and "Rising Star" Award Winner from America's Got Talent
Our first performer will be Joe Black, a magician and award winner who has appeared on America's Got Talent, and he won the "Rising Star" award twice. A magician since 1996, he will be performing on June 19th at City Park at 6:00 pm. Please join us in the park to see some first-rate magic.
June 26th: Paul Stierle's tribute to Bob Dylan
Paul Steirle, formerly of the New Christy Minstrels will play guitar and sing songs from Bob Dylan’s early years, 1962-1974. He will trace Dylan’s progress through folk music, protest songs, folk rock, rock ‘n’ roll, country rock, and Christian music.
July 10: Portland Shishimai Kai
Portland Shishimai Kai, with Eien Hunter-Ishikawa, will be performing the traditional Japanese Lion Dance. The actual performance is only 15 minutes; however, before that we'll learn about the Lion Dance, and there will be plenty of time for questions and answers.
July 24: Angel Ocasio
Angel Ocasio, one of the most versatile performers we have had. He sings, he dances, he does magic tricks, and he makes us laugh; plus, he does this in both English and Spanish!
July 31: Didgeridoo Down Under
Didgeridoo Down Under, the DDU Show is an energetic fusion of Australian music, culture, storytelling, audience participation and environmentalism (reducing, reusing, recycling and more).
August 7: Whateverly Brothers
Enjoy the musical talents of the Whateverly Brothers; they delight audiences with their shimmering harmonies, striking arrangements, and offbeat humor.
August 14: Paradise of Samoa Dance Troupe
Paradise of Samoa Dance Troupe is the vision of Tasi Tuaopepe Keener, a Samoan dancer born and raised in the Independent State of Samoa.
Youth Archery Camp
Learn the art, skill, and sport of archery at Celilo Bowmen Archery Club! For ages Ages 8-16 years old.
Camp 1: June 25-27 from 9 am-12 pm.
Camp 2: July 23-25 from 9 am-12 pm.
