Clean up on 6th Street in TD
Mark Connelly, 60, of Portland operates a backhoe while crews break up a cinderblock building, removing metal from the block in The Dalles on Jan. 24.
The demolition of the burned-out structure is at 1002, 1004 and 1006, W. 6th Street. It is across the street from Columbia Gorge Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore. The Fire occurred back in May under suspicious circumstances. The Dalles Police Sargeant Austin Ell said this morning, Jan. 26 that there was “no direct suspect information.” The investigation remains open.
The building is owned by Henry Tran, who also operates Studio Hair and Nails next door. His brother was on sight on the day of this demolition, Jan. 24, and he said they were working through the process of demolition and what might be built on the site after the demolition is complete.
