Updated: August 29, 2023 at 3:25 p.m. A 300 acre fire is burning along Winslow Road South of Dufur, OR. Evacuation orders in in affect for the area.
The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for Southwest Washington that remains in effect from June 12th, 2023 until Tuesday, June 13th, at 9 p.m. as a cold front approaches, bringing strong westerly winds and low humidity.

Greg and Katie Cummings, who just finished building a houseboat on the third finger in April, said they had just climbed into bed when the fire started only thirty feet from their houseboat.
“It was kind of a blur, the whole thing happened so quickly,” said Lana Bishop-Atkins, “It took only minutes from the time we saw smoke on the other side of the hill to the time it was within feet of our houses.”
Updated July 14th, 2021. Fire has grown to 300 acres. A fire started in Lyle about mid slope on the hill behind Lyle High School at 7:30 PM on July 12th. By 10:11 the fire had reached an estimated 20-30 acres.

There is a level 3 GO NOW evacuation in effect for a small portion of Kelley Springs Rd to the northeast of the fire. A heat advisory is currently in place for June 21st in the Columbia River Basin.
The Forest Service in collaboration with Oregon Department of Forestry and Washington Department of Natural Resources will continue with controlled burn efforts today in area of Courtney Road between Lyle and Bingen. Crews spent the last two days working in the Catherine Creek and Courtney road areas to create fuel line breaks to prevent large forest fires and to restore Oregon White Oak habitat.
It’s likely to be a hazy day. Smoke from Californian and Washington wildfires will be rolling over western Oregon and Washington Friday, and possibly into Saturday. And areas local to the White River Creek Fire will continue to be impacted.
