An Ocean Shores man was killed, and an ODOT worker from Arlington was seriously injured after a vehicle struck a maintenance truck and the two men as they changed a  flat tire on I-84.

A motorist was killed and an Oregon Department of Transportation employee was critically injured Tuesday afternoon when a vehicle struck an ODOT maintenance vehicle and then hit both people along Interstate 84 west of Arlington, according to the Gilliam County Sheriff's Office.

On 07/12/2026 at approximately 1:17 a.m., Frontier Regional 911 received multiple reports of a serious injury crash with multiple injured occupants on Interstate 84 eastbound near milepost 140, approximately three miles east of Arlington, Oregon.

An active brush fire along Interstate 84 near milepost 129 in Blalock Canyon, about 8 miles west of Arlington, is affecting traffic in both directions Friday morning.

On May 20th, 2026, at approximately 8:36 AM, Frontier Regional 911received a report of a capsized flat-bottom boat near river marker 252 on the Columbia River near Arlington, Oregon. A caller also reported several items floating in the water, including a backpack and a cooler.

A two-semi crash involving a tanker hauling corrosive hazardous materials shut down Interstate 84 west of Arlington for nearly seven hours Friday, authorities said.

A 20-mile high-speed chase on I-84 near Arlington Thursday night drew in multiple agencies after a driver fled an Oregon State Trooper and continued westbound across county lines.

“Our dispatchers and deputies quickly learned the crash was due to a road rage issue with another vehicle. The suspect vehicle was reported to have struck the victim's vehicle causing the victim to lose control and crash into the metal guardrail,” the Sheriff’s Office stated in a Facebook post.

“Our students through the years have been able to implement pieces of the program for continuing education, work and life in general,” said lead Career Choices teacher Lori McGuire. “Each student has the opportunity to be successful and this program was able to give them the tools.”
