The project is a continuation of the utility upgrades on West 2nd and for The Port of The Dalles area in general, allowing for expanding developments that produce larger flow amounts in both sewage and storm runoff. This latest contract will continue the work started in Spring 2018.

Dec. 5 at 1:50 p.m. - The Dalles bridge on U.S. 197 is now open following a delay that extended the regularly scheduled weekend closure.

East Scenic Drive will be the focus of bank stabilization work that started today, July 27th. The work is estimated to last a month to complete and the road will be closed to thru traffic for the duration of the work.

Sal Reyes, 35, of The Dalles cuts through an 8” x 6” beam this morning in the Port of The Dalles. The Framer was working on the RBR Construction’s fourplex. Rain, Schmain. Reyes kept on working. Weather prognosticators are calling for more rain through the weekend with temps never jumping out of the 50s.

NE Church St, between Jewett and NE Tohomish, will be closed during the remainder of the construction project. Parking access is for local tenants only. There will be intermittent single-lane traffic on Main St., at the intersection of NE Tohomish when crews are working there. Flaggers will be on site to direct traffic.

However the wait may simply be too long for some, especially seniors.

CMH Construction owner Cliff Hill said on Wednesday that a brisk construction market was keeping him and his crew busy, but he wondered if the surge in demand was sustainable. Lumber and other materials are also skyrocketing in cost with demand and supply-chain slowdown.
