The Canadians had left their vehicle on Freebridge Road about seven miles from the mouth of the Deschutes while they were tossing flies for steelhead in a nice run at Kloan when their car was burgled. Even their passports were stolen.
On May 21st the pro anglers hosted local community members as they took part in a Fish with a Pro Competition. First place went to Dr. Lorelle Davies from Columbia Gorge Community College, second place went to Todd Carpenter from the Last Stop Saloon, and third place went to Deborah Tattershall from Shilo Inn.
This past Saturday, July 10th Cascade Bass Masters had their 3rd club tournament in The Dalles at the Columbia River. The winners of the tournament are Clint Messner and Eric Wilson with their fish weighing in at 15 pounds and 10 ounces
Gavin Gooding, 17, of The Dalles, holds a nice trout caught at Taylor Lake this morning, Thursday, March 25. Gooding and friends Will Macomber, Kevin Reed and his daughter, Charlie. Spent the morning at the lake using Powerbait to haul in some nice catches. The lake was stocked on March 15, according to the Oregon Fish and Wildlife website. For almost as many times as I had split these waters with unsteady feet, I had come away with more angst and bitterness than when I had started. Steelhead are hard to catch. I was 38, and the Gods of the Deschutes were laughing.
Emilio Portillo, 18, did a little fishing this morning, Wednesday, Nov. 18, at Taylor Lake before his online classes started at The Dalles High School. The senior said he got to the lake at 8 a.m. and went with some weights and a worm. He said he planned to switch to Power Bait a bit later, noting he believed the lake had recently been stocked with trout.
