The Grasshopper Fire expanded to 18,136 acres Tuesday, but firefighters successfully held containment lines protecting Pine Hollow and Sportsman's Park as more than 230 personnel continued battling the blaze under gusty afternoon winds.

At their July 27 meeting, the Hood River City Council voted to refer two general obligation bond measures to voters for the November 3 general election. The decision follows several months of community engagement to refine the proposals and gauge public support for proposed investments in affordable housing and public safety.

Firefighters continued to gain ground Tuesday on the Burdoin Fire, which is now 69% contained and measured at 11,192 acres following more accurate mapping. Crews are reinforcing firelines across rugged terrain and have begun shifting to patrol, repair, and recovery work in several divisions. Meanwhile, the Snyder Canyon Fire remains fully contained at 53 acres and is under regular patrol.

On Wednesday July 30, 2025 the City of The Dalles Public Works will begin work on a sanitary sewer main repair in the alley between E 1st St. & E 2nd St. on Court St.

Rivermark and Advantis credit unions have been cleared for a merger expected in late 2024 or early 2025. The Microwave Tower Fire expanded into another 400 acres as it burned during the weekend, burning down cliffs to  Interstate 84 on Sunday.

The Whiskey Creek Fire expanded minimally over the weekend but no containment has been reported as forestry mulchers have been brought in to chip up fuel sources as firefighters continue to build lines around the blaze.

“Yesterday, crews concluded their last evening of night shift patrol. Crews monitored the fire lines watching for anything smoking or smoldering. Pine Creek had some smoke, but it was well interior of the fire with the fire edge still holding strong,” reported Hannah Cleverly with the SE Washington Inter-Agency Team.
