On Friday, November 7th, Detectives from The Dalles Police Department were awarded the Unit Citation for Excellence Award from The Oregon Police Officers Association (OPOA) at the annual OPOA awards ceremony.

A local man previously arrested for allegedly firing shots near the Fourth Street grade was taken into custody again after it was reported that a driver crashed into a porch, a boat and a car at near the same location in The Dalles.

Authorities responded to a reported break-in involving armed suspects Monday morning on West 16th Street, prompting a perimeter search with K-9 units and drone assistance.

“We will present evidence to the citizens of the community that are sitting on this grand jury and they will be asked to determine whether the officer-involved shooting was justified,” District Attorney Matthew Ellis said this morning, July 11. Jimmy L. Ewing, also known as August J. Law was fatally wounded during the shooting.
