From the Columbia River to the shores of Mexico, three-time Stand Up Paddleboard World Champion Fiona Wylde has navigated waters around the globe. Now she’s making a splash in her hometown of Hood River with Wylde Wind & Water, a non-profit which aims to create equitable access to water sports through water safety education, youth water sports programs, free community programs for all ages and much more!

The Dalles High School held a signing day ceremony for Senior Jazmine De La Cruz, on May 8th, at 3 p.m. to celebrate the continuation of her education and her soccer career at Lane Community College. 

Henry Begay, of The Dalles High School was signed to Blue Mountain Community College today, April 23 surrounded by his family, friends, coaches and teammates.

Riverhawks Athletics hosted a National Letter of Intent signing ceremony on Thursday, January 11th at 3 p.m. in the main lobby of TDHS for Kaleyah and Kaleiani Crichton-Tunai as they commited to Mt. Hood Community College to continue their academic and athletic careers.

Following the disappointing cancellation of a long awaited meet in the Wallowas, The Dalles High School Cross Country pulled together to set twenty-five personal bests at the Oregon City Invitational.

Work ethic leads to some personal records for Riverhawk Tracksters as they competed on Friday in Canby. The attitude was apparently contagious as the most memorable entries were from the athletes who were just plain willing to try. And try hard.

It started to drizzle as the varsity girls were at the starting line of the Valiant Invitational. Striding out, jogging back: palms upheld to test their suspicion. “Rain makes you faster,” I told them as they peeled off sweats and checked the knots on their shoelaces.

As random as a field near Heppner may seem, and despite the crunchy stubble underfoot, the course is remarkably flat and forgiving; the home team, coached by Russ Nichols, is consistently strong and competitive: both good reasons why over a dozen teams, including the Riverhawks, TDMS Wildcats, and St. Mary’s- came to run the Mustang Invitational last Thursday.

If you’re looking for a fast time, the course up at Sorosis Park in The Dalles might not be at the top of your list. Uneven hills throughout the park, plus the infamous “college hill” next to CGCC, make it among the toughest cross country races in the state. If you’re looking for a good time, though, it might be the right course for you.

The Dalles Riverhawks varsity girls soccer team played a phenomenal game against The Pendleton Buckaroos at on Tuesday.
