The Dalles Ore., June 25, 2024 — This Fourth of July, The Dalles High school will host a Fourth of July Rocket Run, on July 4th at 7 a.m. at Bargeway Pub & Catering! (Day of registration open at 6:30 a.m.) This all-day celebration not only commemorates Independence Day but also fosters community spirit and health.
The day kicks off early with the Rocket Run, where participants of all ages can choose from three distances: 1 mile, 3K, or 5K along the Riverfront Trail along the Columbia River.
All proceeds from the run will benefit The Dalles High School Cross Country team.
Entry fees are set at $10 for youth and $20 for adults, with an optional T-shirt available for an additional $10.
Participants are encouraged to bring cash, check, or Venmo for in-person payment on the day.
To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, there are a few simple rules: runners under 13 must be accompanied by an adult, pets are allowed but must be leashed, and smoking is prohibited on the trail.
After crossing the finish line, participants and spectators can enjoy a free community breakfast starting at 8 a.m. The celebration continues throughout the day with events including yoga, a parade, concerts, and a cornhole tournament, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display over the Columbia River Gorge at 10 p.m.
By participating in the Rocket Run, community members and visitors not only kick off a day of fun and freedom but also contribute to nurturing young athletes in their own backyard.
