The Columbia Gorge Pride Alliance Moves on to Pursue 501c3 Nonprofit Status

The Dalles, Ore., Nov. 3, 2026 — A little over five years ago, the Columbia Gorge Pride Alliance's (CGPA) board volunteers reached out to The Next Door, Inc. (TNDI) with a vision of partnering to support CGPA in becoming its own 501c3 nonprofit organization. However, early in the partnership, CGPA asked if it could become a program of TNDI due to limited capacity to work on the endeavor.

Consequently, CGPA became a program of TNDI in 2021. Since that time, CGPA has been able to support communities and partners across the Gorge to create safe spaces for the LGBTQIA2S+ communities in our region.

With the changing landscape of our country and the increased need in this community for resources and direct services, CGPA is looking to continue moving toward its original vision of becoming its own nonprofit. The Next Door is pleased to support the transition of the program and partner with the Columbia Gorge Health Council to support the CGPA in pursuing its nonprofit status.

Beginning in November, CGPA will be moving its programming to the Columbia Gorge Health Council and can now be reached at info@gorgeheatlhcouncil.org or www.cghealthcouncil.org. It will remain @cgpridealliance on Instagram and "Columbia Gorge Pride" on Facebook, where you can follow along for transition updates, CGPA happenings, and resources moving forward.

The Next Door Inc. (TNDI), the largest social service agency in the Gorge, was founded in 1971 to address the unmet need for support services for youth. Today, TNDI’s employees facilitate over 30 programs that strive to fulfill our mission of opening doors to new possibilities by strengthening children and families and improving communities in Oregon and Washington.
