The Dalles Joins National Effort to End Hunger with September Proclamation

The Dalles, Ore., Sept. 11, 2025 — At Monday night’s City Council meeting, Mayor of The Dalles Rich Mays officially proclaimed September as Hunger Action Month for the city. Every September, Hunger Action Month is recognized nationwide as a time when people come together to help end hunger.

Mayor Mays’ decision to recognize this at the local level endorses our commitment as a city to work toward ending hunger… because no one should be hungry.

September is also when we host Empty Bowls, our annual fundraiser that brings the community together in support of local hunger relief.
