The Dalles, Ore., March 8, 2026 — The Dalles Public Library hosts a full week of events including STEAM programs, crafts, music lessons and games for kids, teens and adults.

Monday, March 9

4-Chord Fun: Ukulele for Newbies, 6 p.m. The Dalles Public Library. Registration required. A seven-week beginner course for teens and adults covering basic chords, strumming, reading chord charts and learning simple songs. Ten library ukuleles are available to borrow during the course.

Tuesday, March 10

Little Learners Lab: Kids in STEAM, 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The Dalles Public Library. Preschoolers explore science, technology, engineering, art and math through hands-on, play-based activities designed to build curiosity, creativity and confidence.

Tiny Art Gallery, 3:30 to 5 p.m. The Dalles Public Library. Teens are invited to create miniature artwork including paintings, sculptures and dioramas using art supplies and recycled materials, then display their creations around the library.

Wednesday, March 11

Hobbity Seasonal Wreath, 1 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. The Dalles Public Library. Registration required. Craft a seasonal wreath inspired by “hobbit-style” design. Teens accompanied by an adult are welcome at the 5:30 p.m. session.

Thursday, March 12

Quilting with Corliss, 1 p.m. The Dalles Public Library. Registration required. A welcoming, hands-on sewing class for adults of all experience levels.

Family STEAM Night: Balloon-Powered Cars, 6 to 7 p.m. The Dalles Public Library main library. Families will design and race balloon-powered cars during this monthly STEAM activity night. Children must attend with an accompanying adult.

Friday, March 13

Fun Fridays: The Great Book Taste Test, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. The Dalles Public Library children’s wing. School-age kids are invited to sample a variety of books by exploring covers and blurbs, voting on favorites and enjoying snacks, games and reading time.

Saturday, March 14

Swordsmanship with Andy Plymate, 9 to 11 a.m. The Dalles Public Library. Registration required. A three-week series introducing the history and techniques of Italian fencing. Open to ages 16 and older.

Intermediate Guitar Lessons with Aaron Israel, 1 to 2 p.m. The Dalles Public Library teen room. Registration required. A six-week course for intermediate guitar players covering barre chords, finger picking, scales and advanced techniques.

KidQuest: Tabletop Role-Playing Games for Kids, 2 to 4 p.m. The Dalles Public Library. A storytelling adventure for ages 6 to 11 held every second Saturday. Participants create characters, learn role-playing game rules and embark on imaginative quests. Snacks provided.
