The Dalles, Ore., May 25, 2025 — The library winds down May with a lineup that blends imagination, creativity, and community connection. Whether you're meeting a local author, making lasting memories with clay, or gearing up for a middle school Nerf battle, there's something for everyone at The Dalles Public Library this week.

Memorial Day – Library Closed
Monday, May 26 – All day
The library will be closed in observance of Memorial Day.

Author Event: Steven Christiansen’s The Blue Line Letters
Tuesday, May 27, 4–5:30 p.m., Main Library
Portland author Steven Christiansen will discuss his new young adult novel The Blue Line Letters—a heartfelt coming-of-age story set aboard Portland’s MAX light rail. The event is open to teens and adults.

Family Craft Night: Clay Handprints and Painting
Tuesday, May 27, 6–7 p.m., Main Library
Capture your family’s handprints in air-dry clay and decorate them with paint at this relaxed, all-ages craft night. Part of the library’s monthly Family Craft series.






Family Lego Pizza Night
Thursday, May 29, 5:30–7 p.m., Meeting Room
Build together, bite together. Bring the family for an evening of LEGO play and pizza. Held on the last Thursday of every month.









Nerf War (Grades 5–8 Only)
Saturday, May 31, 5:30–7 p.m., Main Library
Middle schoolers can suit up for a friendly Nerf battle at the library. Registration and a signed waiver are required. All Nerf darts and safety glasses will be provided.
