Crows Shadow Institute at TDAC
The Dalles Art Center celebrates a new art show Feb. 4 through March 26 with prints from the Crow’s Shadow Institute of the Arts (Pendleton, OR). Critics say “Crow’s Shadow has grown in both art world stature and programmatic vision, expanding its locally based, service-oriented mission to its current iteration, national in scope.” The work from Crow’s Shadow Institute has been shown in galleries throughout the world and features art from Ravon Chacon, Marie Watts, James Lavadour, Rick Bartow, Ka’ila Farrell Smith, and many others.

Helping Hands Fundraiser Feb. 17
Ferment Brewing in Hood River is hosting a fundraising event for Helping Hands Against Violence on Thursday, Feb. 17, from noon to 8 p.m. This organization supports survivors of domestic violence and provides support and shelter services. 20% of all sales go to the organization.

Last week we announced a new CD from Blues player Rich Wilkins. This week, Rich says that one of his songs “Hydramatic woman" was featured on Virginia’s WNRN radio station (www.wnrn.org). Plus, Wilkins was featured in an interview with Hans-Peter Nilsson of Blues.gr, a Blues and Roots Association based in Copenhagen!

Science Fiction Book Club Meets March 15
“Station Eleven” by Emily St. John Mandel is the book of choice for the Science Fiction Book Club, meeting on Tuesday, March 15, at The Dalles Wasco County Library. The award-winning book was the basis for a 10-part miniseries on HBO! The meeting is a hybrid in-person and Zoom event, from 5-6 p.m. Copies available at library. (P.S. I’m tempted to pick this up and join, but I just started diving into my Vintage 10- book Star Trek Log series. Would I be able to handle the Sci-fi Overload???)
And Speaking of Diving In……Sundiver Margarita Announced
Information about a new Margarita cocktail at Camp 1805 in Hood River surfaced last week. The drink is a “Spicy Serrano Margarita on Hibiscus Cubes with Orange Twist,” and the 53 second video features rock band Sundiver Bandleader Aaron Seymour. Prost!
