Holiday Artisan Market Opening at The Dalles Art Center
Discover the magic of the holiday season and shop local and shop small this holiday season. Support your local art center and community artisans by finding one-of-a-kind, locally made gifts at TDAC’s Holiday Artisan Market. Holiday Artisan Market Opening Night Celebration: Thursday, Nov. 14; runs through Dec. 29
About the Event
The annual tradition continues as The Dalles Art Center’s enchanting Holiday Artisan Market opens Thursday, November 14, and runs through December 29. Holiday shoppers will find fine art, artisanal crafts, and unique locally made gifts from Columbia Gorge artisans.
“We’re excited to welcome everyone to the opening on November 14th from 5 to 7 PM,” said Pam Westland, TDAC Board Chair.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity to be the first to explore the beautiful, handmade pieces from local artisans, each one unique. With the market running through December 29, there’s plenty of time to find the perfect gifts that support both your local art center and our talented community artists.”
She added, “For artists and craftspeople still interested in participating, we’re accepting submissions up until the market begins on November 14. Don’t miss this chance to showcase your work!”
So far, this year’s participating artists include painter Jodi Wright, Teresa Hepker (batik and ice-dyed fabric items), Judy Pearson (oil and acrylic paintings, cards, and ornaments), Chris Bush (handmade baskets), Kristin Arens (hand-carved block-printed tea towels), Sally Ann Kortge (multimedia Christmas art), EJ Davis (fridge magnets and small prints), Claire Graper (fiber works and mixed media), Anna Goodwin (knitted and crocheted ornaments and holiday decor), Anna Backer (paintings and wood bowls), Cynthia Arnett (earrings), and The Freedom Sisters Roadshow up-cycled functional art by artists Barbara Kilkenny, Abigail Kaehler, Denise Jiminez, and Jan Byrkit.
In addition to the Holiday Artisan Market, TDAC is offering more holiday fun:
Youth Ornament Making, 2-4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 7 | The Dalles Art Center
Kids can learn the art of glass ornament making with Stephanie Johnston. Students from 2nd to 8th grade will create a glass-fused ornament to decorate their tree or give as a gift. The ornaments will be fired by the instructor and ready for pick-up by Dec. 14. $40 per student, plus a $1 processing fee. Register online at thedallesartcenter.org.
Blown Glass Ornaments with Nichols Art Glass, Saturday, Dec. 14 | Nichols Art Glass
While registration for the event is now closed, in partnership with The Dalles Art Center, Andy Nichols will host private sessions to create blown glass ornaments, with all proceeds benefiting TDAC.
The Dalles Art Center Holiday Party, 6-8 PM, Thursday, Dec. 12 | The Dalles Art Center
Join us for our holiday toast and make merry with old and new friends! Free drinks and snacks while shopping and mingling with members of our community. Warning: Mistletoe may be installed!
Calling all artists! TDAC’s first show in 2025 is an Open Show. Did you grow up fishing on the Klickitat? Maybe you left a childhood in the city for a more rural lifestyle? Did your grandparents come from Samoa and pass down their traditions?
Heritage and art go hand in hand, and the diverse heritage of the people in the Columbia Gorge community is what makes it so beautiful. We look forward to seeing the different ways that the artists of our community express their cultural and personal history through different mediums and interpretations.
