Conservation District is ready to unveil Farm Tool Library in White Salmon on April 20, just in time for Earth Day. The collection of tools will be loaned out to spur small-scale agriculture in the local area.

Across the state and in the Columbia Gorge, boys outnumber girls roughly three to one in engineering-related courses. Students of color are similarly underrepresented in those courses. Now over $200,000 of investment is headed to Hood River County and South Wasco County school districts in the Gorge to diversify access to engineering, computer science, and advanced manufacturing courses.

What started as an idea to help young people in the Gorge who are experiencing or at risk of houselessness, or who just don’t feel safe at home, has become a beautiful and hope-filled reality.

For a decade local volunteers have been reaching out to D21 students with offerings of food to help them during the weekend and better prepare them for school come Monday morning. THE DALLES, OR — The Columbia Basin Care Foundation is now accepting scholarship applications for students pursuing healthcare careers. Offering empowerment through education, the $2,500 scholarships support health-related studies in a variety of areas, such as nursing, food and nutrition, public health, social services, and more.

Gorge robotics students from The Dalles took top honors at the Oregon State VEX Robotics Championships recently and will advance to the World Finals in Dallas, Texas, May 5-7.

As a part of the strategic planning process, the North Wasco County School District has partnered with Public Consulting Group to facilitate focus groups with community members to gather input.
