14U Sluggers Team Takes Home Another 1st Place
This past weekend May 29-31 the 14U Sluggers baseball team had their final tournament in Hillsboro. They captured first place once again in the Northwest Nations Memorial Day Challenge.

On May 22nd and May 23rd the 12U Sluggers baseball team competed in a tournament at Jaquith Park in Newberg. They captured 2nd place in the tournament.
Grass Fire near Discovery Center around 2 p.m. June 2
Police blocked access to Interstate 84 and Highway 30 West of The Dalles on Wednesday afternoon when a grass fire started blowing large plumes of smoke over the highway. Multiple firefighters and an air attack were brought in to douse the flames. The fire was burning as of the posting of this story at 2:55 p.m.

Morehouse Crowned State Champ as TDHS Athletes Peak in Track
Taylor Morehouse topped 14 feet in the pole vault to take state gold at the 5A state track meet this past Friday and Saturday, May 21st-May 22nd. He was among 3 athletes that took top 3 in their events. Overall, The Dalles High School had 11 students make it to state. They represented The Dalles really well and most PR’d. Morehouse’s phenomenal vault has led him to be the first state champion at TDHS since 2010.
OHSU ending Cardiology at MCMC but why?
Four OHSU cardiologists are set to discontinue practicing in The Dalles after an agreement between MCMC and OHSU was abruptly ended earlier this month. Neither MCMC CEO Dennis Knox nor OHSU gave a definitive reason for the discontinuation of service. But the results of the decision are clear. Cardiologists are leaving.
