The Dalles, OR, October 31, 2023 – The St. Vincent de Paul Society of The Dalles (SVdP), a non-profit that offers aid to those in need, has found itself in the City’s crosshairs. A 52-year-old Goldendale man was killed during a house fire at 1500 S. Columbus Avenue on Saturday, Oct. 28, according to a press release from the Goldendale Police Department.

TD city residents with service to a 32-gallon trash can will see their rate increase 10 cents to $21.89 per month. This includes the Household Hazardous Waste surcharge of $1.40. The Dalles Disposal offers free service to seniors 85 years and older. It also supports multiple community cleanups at no cost to volunteers or weekend warriors.

This morning at approximately 10 a.m., Wasco County 911 received multiple reports of a delivery truck that had gone into the Columbia River at Milepost 99 near Celilo Park. The Wasco County Sheriff's Office and Oregon State Police responded as well as Mid Columbia Fire & Rescue, Umatilla Fire (in the area for training), and ODOT.

In a split vote, The Dalles City Council approved a new ordinance that will require businesses utilizing shopping carts to retrieve them within 72 hours of them being reported abandoned. 

Crews with Velo Solutions have worked through the wind and rain in the past few days as they are putting the humps in the new pump… track, that is. The park will provide, yet another free and friendly recreational opportunity for local kids and adults, when it comes online in weeks to come.

Throughout these races on Oct. 19 at the Goldendale Golf Course, coaches and spectators alike were trying to determine where their teams sat for the overall title. At the end of the day, the Goldendale Timberwolves edged out Cle Elum/Rosyln for the first-place hardware.
