Teen leaders will gain professional and social-emotional learning (SEL) skills through a career-connected service learning project incorporating VEX robotics and STEAM maker activities. The focus of the grant is to provide youth with increased access to engineering and computer science career exploration supported by paid community teen leaders.

A recent block grant of $7.3 million will help fund Washington State’s 30 Community Action Agencies - including the Washington Gorge Action Program serving Klickitat and Skamania counties - to stabilize and equip families and individuals to exit poverty for good through a network of local organizations.

Wentworth was arrested near Goldendale Washington on Oregon State Parole Board warrants for violating parole. But, for Patty Gallardo, because of her immigration status, a trip to Mexico to visit her seriously ill mother might have life-altering consequences. She might not be able to return to the United States. She has a lot to lose, including contact with her five children.

U.S. Army Corps technicians found the damage to a lower guide wheel July 25, and closed the lock to river traffic. Engineers and operations staff initiated limited lockages on July 26 in coordination with the U.S. Coast Guard. “At this point, we’re unsure of what caused the damage to the guide wheel, but our main focus will be getting the lock back into full service,” said Col. Mike Helton
