On March 13, 2024, the City of The Dalles and Wasco County will host a free Disaster Movie Marathon at Columbia Cinema, located at 2727 W 7th St. in The Dalles. Members of the public are invited to watch a variety of disaster-themed movies, enjoy free snacks, prizes and take part in a community survey on disaster prepardeness.

Wonderworks Children's Museum is Reopening

After being closed since October 1, 2023, due to financial challenges, Wonderworks Children's Museum has announced that it will reopen to the public on March 27, 2024. The museum is still in search of additional donations, funding, and volunteers to help with daily operations, so the museum will be reopened in phases.

New ‘Give for the Gorge’ Program Launches to Support Local Nonprofits

“Give for the Gorge was created to help ensure that the Columbia River Gorge and its communities are preserved for future generations of visitors and residents,” said founder and project manager, Sandi Scheinberg. “It will provide a much-needed, ongoing source of funding to eight incredible Gorge-area nonprofits focused on the three areas of greatest need in the Gorge: housing, food security and the environment.”

ODFW announces 2025 annual wildlife art contest

Artists are invited to compete in one or all three of ODFW's 2025 stamp art competitions. The winning artist in each contest receives a $2,000 award and winning artwork is used to produce collector's stamps and other promotional items with sale proceeds benefitting Oregon's fish, wildlife, and their habitats.
