An air stagnation warning is in effect in Oregon, Upper Hood River Valley and Central Columbia River Gorge until 7:00 PM today. Effected areas include the cities of Odell, Hood River, Carson, and Underwood.

Sunny skies are expected through Wednesday with a high of 53 degrees Fahrenheit. Chances of rain are increasing starting on Thursday with snow forecast in the upper elevations.

The Dalles Art Center has installed two new concrete bases which will soon be home away from home for traveling sculptures which will visit TDAC in the near future.

Klickitat County Health Department (KCHD) has received notification from Skyline Health of two staff members with COVID-19 positive tests. At the time of this press release these individuals are self-isolating and no additional hospitalizations have occurred.

Grants are available to individuals and organizations for projects in the arts, humanities and heritage. The Trust will make grant applications available on Monday, Dec. 7, for grant funding for projects occurring March – December 2021. Grant awards will generally range from $200 to $2,000 depending on the number of grants awarded and funds available. The deadline for applications is February 1, 2021.

A tidal wave of contributions for The Salvation Army has poured in during the past 24 hours, according to multiple officials and business leaders.

“What a great community we have,” said Chris Zukin who sits on the advisory board for The Salvation Army.

You may know The Dalles captured the Oregon State Football Championship in 1947. And you may know about the team knocking the helmets off the Hillsboro Spartans in a 47-7 blowout in front of 14,000 fans in Portland to grab the trophy. But there was a whole lot more to it. This is their story.

Project ELFF could use a little of Santa’s magic tonight in the form of canned food, dry goods and cold hard cash. Firefighters will have their lights flashing at local schools as well as at fire stations in Columbia View Heights as well as West The Dalles. They will be collecting between 6 and 9 p.m.

Local businesses hurting from the pandemic may see some financial relief in the form of grants in weeks to come. That may be good news for businesses such as restaurants or gyms that have seen a vast drop in revenue or even forced to temporarily close such as in the case of athletic clubs. Grants to be available as early as next week.

Dakota Weitman of Hood River Sand, Gravel & Ready Mix performs an air test on a batch of concrete in east The Dalles this morning, Wednesday, Dec. 2. Weitman, a quality control supervisor, said, the test ensures that there is enough air in the concrete so that water can freeze and thaw in the mix without doing damage.

North Wasco County School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Judy Richardson to serve in the role of School Board Member for the Zone 7 position. Dr. Richardson was appointed by the NWC Board of Directors on November 19th, 2020 in a unanimous affirmative vote.

Clear skies and cold temps brought a good frost and icy streets this morning in The Dalles. Be careful taking your first steps on this Tuesday, Dec. 1. I made the mistake of trying to walk through the bark for traction and put my foot in a nice little dog treat. But I still came to work. Win! Be careful the rest of this week as forecasters are calling for clear skies with lows of 28 and highs of 43 for the next five days. It is also nonprofit Tuesday where people are encouraged to give to their local charities - there are more than 150 to choose from in the Mid-Columbia Area.

CGCC Board Member Kim Morgan was recently named vice president of the Oregon Community College Association. In her new role, she will be aiming to make positive impacts on state legislation, advocacy and statewide college policy.

The black line on this map shows where floats will be parked this evening during the Starlight Parade. Parade-goers will be able to drive in the right-hand lane and view the floats, which will be parked along the left side of the street. Get your hot chocolate and marshmallows ready. There are 26 floats entered in this year’s parade.
