The severe wind gusts early Wednesday morning, January 13, caused damage to the Fort Dalles Museum. A massive section of one of the historic pine trees broke during the wind and caused some damage to the roof and southwest corner of the Surgeon’s Quarters.

BREAKING NEWS: An RV fire at Columbia Hills RV Park in Dallesport, Washington occurred at around 10:30 on the morning of January 14th, 2021.

Walking Man’s grant of $10,000 will be used to cover and heat a portion of their beer garden, providing additional outdoor seating. “I am beyond grateful for what this grant means for Walking Man,” said Tabatha Wiggins, co-owner of Walking Man Brewing. “It means we can more than double our covered outdoor space.”

Ramsay Signs continue to install classic neon signs in The Dalles today, Jan. 14. The sign company is doing the work for free in cooperation with The National Neon Sign Museum and The Dalles Mainstreet, which procured a $25,000 grant for the signs.

North Wasco County School District 21 has narrowed its search for a permanent superintendent to just three candidates. And one of them is expected to be hired on Friday, Jan. 22. CCCNews went head to head with each candidate for 30 minutes asking five questions about the future of TD schools. The district is set to hold a public forum with the candidates on Friday, Jan. 15 via a live broadcast on its Facebook page.

David Daniels of The Dalles worked on his 1965 Westcoaster Mailster on Montana Street on Monday. Daniels said the vehicle was originally sold for US Mail Carriers back in the ‘60s. It has a maximum speed of 35 mph and a 7.5 horsepower two-cylinder motor.

Megan Polino of Crestline Construction set up a GPS tracking system at Columbia Gorge Community College to position excavators in their work at the Skills Center in The Dalles this morning, Tuesday, Jan. 12. A bunch of rain did not stop progress as contractors were out in force.

Ramsay Signs arrived this morning, Jan. 11, with multiple cranes to lift four neon signs into place in The Dalles downtown core. Some alleys and side streets have been temporarily closed for the day while the work is being completed.
