Fire in Lyle
Updated July 14th, 2021. Fire has grown to 300 acres. A fire started in Lyle about mid slope on the hill behind Lyle High School at 7:30 PM on July 12th. By 10:11 the fire had reached an estimated 20-30 acres.

This past Saturday, July 10th Cascade Bass Masters had their 3rd club tournament in The Dalles at the Columbia River. The winners of the tournament are Clint Messner and Eric Wilson with their fish weighing in at 15 pounds and 10 ounces

Beginning on Tuesday, July 13 work will begin to stabilize the slope on the north side of SR 14 about two miles east of Bingen.

Salvage to begin in TD Marina fire after investigation; no cause yet
Insurance companies are still sorting out the cause of the fire at The Dalles Marina that destroyed eight houseboats and sank four vessels. No cause has been determined as yet, making it impossible to know who is liable for the damage. Salvage of the boathouse and floating of sunken boats is expected after a determination of the cause or the lack thereof is final.

DirtHugger is embracing The Dalles with a solid bear hug as they clean up the former site of Jones Auto Wrecking & Towing at 749 Snipes Street just south of Kentucky Fried Chicken in The Dalles. The site will serve as a retail outlet as the company composts some 55,000 tons of local green waste annually.
