Oregon’s Nonfarm Payroll Employment Declines by 1,200 in August
Oregon’s unemployment rate stayed at 3.4% in August, the same as July. This tied Oregon’s record low of 3.4%, which also was reached in November and December 2019. Since May, Oregon’s unemployment rate has been below 4%. The U.S. unemployment rate rose from 3.5% in July to 3.8% in August.
GTA and STEM Hub Empowers Robotics Programs in the Columbia Gorge Region
The Gorge Technology Alliance (GTA) and the Columbia Gorge STEM Hub share the mission of ensuring equitable access to quality STEM experiences for all students. A 4 acre fire was reported near Ridgetop Road south of Dufur, OR today at around 3:09 p.m. the fire is contained and is now on mop up. Wasco County Sheriff’s office issued a Level 3, GO NOW evacuation order for all of Sportsman's Paradise, Upper Fifteen Mile Rd to Dufur Valley Rd and all of Ridgetop Rd.

Cross-country runners are, in general, pretty mild-mannered individuals. Polite to a fault, involved in most of the community activities, as comfortable talking with adults as their peers, and signed up for as many honors courses as they could fit textbooks for. It’s always a bit of a surprise, then, when some hidden ferocity comes to light: charging up hills like warriors, arms pumping into a finish or battling (rolling?) through a mud pit...and once finished, wiping the mud off and cooling down.
