November 2021 Horoscopes: Sister Signs Scorpio and Taurus Collide
Hello Dear Readers,
Strap in. This month is going to be intense.
The veil has thinned, and the process of softening, thickening, and hardening for winter is now underway. The elements collide this month. The rain turns clay earth to mud. Fires light in our homes, and the chill of the fall breeze makes our bellies grow hungry. Our bodies get a little softer and our thoughts a little darker as we prepare for winter.
It is a time of the year when stark contrasts arise.
These contrasts are also present in the diverse expressions of survival instincts that are on display everywhere you look. Some hibernate for the winter, others make cozy nests, some shed their leaves and wait for spring to come again, some double their efforts to grow their winter stores, and some frolic ever more frantically in the face of coming snow. Every individual’s expression of their survival instinct is so unique. Yet, every single behavior, regardless of its variety, is an expression of this same universal desire: to live, to survive, to thrive, to die with dignity, and to be reborn in our purest form.
November is a time of soul seeking.
This month we’re learning what it’s like to be the last leaf on a tree, waiting to take that ecstatic free fall or journey along with the breeze before joining our fellow leaves at the foot of our mother tree. Existential questions about the nature of life, death, and rebirth float to the surface. These questions help us to cut through the noise to discover what matters to us. These questions help us gather our strength, seek comfort in endless possibilities, and transform our values into a north star that can light the way through the dark days ahead.
It is also a time when contrasts between the haves and have nots become especially visible. The houseless individual who was all but forgotten in summer is again remembered as the temperatures drop and frost graces the window panes of those who have homes. Those who have no fields to tend must rely on those that do to feed them. Strong communities, whether they are whole towns or a singular family, are only as successful as their least successful companions. In life, we must do all we can to lift others up. The success of the whole is dependent on the success of individuals. Opportunities for generosity and miserliness abound in the coming winter months.
This Months Major Astrological Themes
A quick note: Many planets are in fixed signs this month, which means that a tendency to get stuck, rigidity in thinking, and inflexibility may be challenges we face. The four fixed signs are Taurus (Earth), Leo (Fire), Scorpio (Water), and Aquarius (Air).
Scorpio Season Collides With Sister Sign Taurus
When: Oct. 22nd - Nov. 21st, Uranus RX in Taurus opposes Mars, Moon, Sun in Scorpio early on the 4th, and 5th. And the new moon in Scorpio Nov, 4th and then again during the partial lunar eclipse during full moon in Taurus on Nov. 19th.
Scorpio themes from last month are back again in November. So be sure to check out last month's horoscopes for more information on that. Because I want to dive into another phenomenon that’s happening this month: the Scorpio and Taurus Sister Sign energy that permeates the first half of this month.
If you’ve ever had a best friend that was your sister sign (sister signs sit precisely opposite each other on the wheel of the zodiac), then you know where this is going. Sisters can help you expand your heart, but they can trample on it too. Finding that relationship balance can sometimes feel as easy as breathing, and at other times it’s a tooth and nail struggle.
Scorpio and Taurus are sisters; both represent the fixed feminine aspects of power, spirituality, and sexuality in the zodiac, although they take very different tacts. Scorpio likes to control. Taurus likes to have. Scorpio is an occultist. Taurus is more of a Buddhist (or Taoist). They both love sex, comfort, and power, but they often look for these things in completely opposite ways. Both struggle with trust but somehow implicitly trust one another. They are like two sides of the same coin, contrasting in their approach to answering the same questions surrounding their sense of self and personal power. Taurus often defines themselves by having things and Scorpio by controlling things. So this month is a good time to reconcile any opposing values or ideals you hold about power, freedom, having, and controlling. (You’ll be glad you did by the time the full moon rolls around and karma comes knocking.)
This will be especially true early in the month when Uranus RX opposes the Sun, the Moon, and Mars in Scorpio in Taurus early in the month. Uranus in Taurus has been pushing us all year to radically evolve our economy, technology, how we relate to the Earth and each other.
Uranus is the wake-up call planet.
Uranus in Taurus teaches us that collective evolution and awakening are now being born out of actual physical necessity. Looking at our history, we can see that Uranus was last in Taurus during the Great Depression. Changes had to be made. Economy and industry had to shift. Women began entering the workforce and came into their power in a new way. Now Uranus is back in Taurus. And sure enough, society is once again ripe with challenges (economic downturn, pandemic, calls for gender equality) and potential to evolve to meet those challenges in new and creative ways. Now is the time for every individual to awaken and reflect on their role in evolving our society.
Uranus is shaking our sh*t up in a big way this year.
Uranus pushes us to redefine our attitudes, beliefs and seek to understand the role we play in building a better society. But in general, when Uranus is in Taurus, we struggle to deal with that change gracefully and a lot of fear about potential adverse outcomes gets stirred up. This is especially true when Uranus Rx in Taurus opposes it’s sister sign, Scorpio who is known to have a flair for intensity and drama. As a result, there are likely to be a lot of ups and downs early in the month. Bursts of intense emotions, anger, inspiration and energy are available to us. But so are solitude, solidity, and consistency. There will be journeying of the soul across the dark void. And there will be bright spots of connectivity, heart expansion, and comfort. Feelings can be tender, grudges can surface, the universe can reveal secrets, and hearts can open during this time. Ultimately it is up to you to find a feeling of balance in this chaos.
New Moon in Scorpio, Partial Lunar Eclipse During Full Moon in Taurus
When: Nov. 4th, Nov. 19th
Lunar activity plays a big role in how we roll this month.
On Nov. 4th the New Moon in Scorpio will oppose Uranus in Taurus (Scorpio’s sister sign rears her head yet again). When sister signs oppose each other, especially when both are fixed signs, rebellion, awakening, and new beginnings are at hand. The new moon will up the ante for transformational possibilities. Creative breakthroughs and necessary collapses may abound at various points in the month as a result.
The lunar eclipse in the Scorpio-Taurus axis brings big changes and big manifestations. Whatever happens now could set the tone for all of 2022 and the first half of 2023 as additional eclipses will occur in these signs for the next two years.
The tarot card associated with this lunation is The Wheel of Fortune. Karma is coming. The tides are turning, the seasons are changing, and what will be, will be. Be aware of your sensual physical being and needs. Hold on to your wallet as you may need those pennies to weather whats coming. But give of your heart as freely as you can.
When the moon waxes full in Taurus, hearts, and doors to romance will open. Gift your lovers things that delight their physical senses: chocolates, marshmallows, rose scents, and orgasms.
Venus enters Capricorn
When: Nov. 5th
The first few days of the month start off with Venus in Sagittarius and leave us feeling ready to undertake significant new growth phases in our relationships. Luckily Venus in Capricorn arrives just in time to lend us some grit and support.
One thing we all love about Capricorns is how dang good they are at their chosen pursuits. They are the epitome of competent, ambitious, and well-organized when it comes to their desires. But the lesser-known side of Capricorn is the amount of anxiety they must expend when weighing all possible outcomes and options of a decision. Capricorn CARES. And to Capricorn, caring and commitment go hand in hand. In some ways, for Capricorn, love, and commitment might as well be the same thing. Capricorns are in it for the long haul, and they care deeply about the long-term outcomes of their relationships, so they weigh relationship decisions carefully. Sometimes even taking into account seven years to seven generations in the future.
SEVEN YEARS of commitment, ya’ll. That is the depth of caring that Capricorn brings to Venus this month. Capricorn wants to build relationship foundations that can last for lifetimes and span generations, not just a fling that lasts a week or a month. And they’ve got some pretty high standards as a result. Embrace that Capricornian grit. Formulate what makes you CARE enough to commit to growth and embrace it.
Capricorn also reminds us to take joy in performing acts of service for others. Because, like it or not, being in a relationship with others comes with terms and conditions. We have social, cultural, and professional codes of conduct that mirror that truth. Everyone needs something back in a relationship. This is a great time to get clear on the terms and conditions of our long-term relationships and formulate our long-term relationship needs, expectations, and desires.
Embrace your desires. It isn’t selfishness, it’s your long-held truth. Let your newfound clarity help you with the hard work of building, rebuilding, or restructuring our platonic, business, and romantic relationships. Relationship expectations become more precise and structured during this transit. Capricorn in Venus may also lead to raised standards in relationships.
If you still aren’t feeling ready to commit to seven years, let alone seven generations come December, don’t worry, its okay to take your time and weigh your options. Capricorn energy knows that it takes time to build a rock-solid relationship foundation. And sometimes, that process requires pointing out the cracks and making repairs. After all, pointing out a need that isn’t being met in a current relationship might feel hard today, but it paves the way for a better long-term outcome.
Note: Venus will be OUT-OF-BOUNDS until December 7th. Out of bounds planets tend to jump the track and take off in whatever direction suits them, and Venus is no different. Venus now urges us to toss aside conventions and taboos and follow our hearts regardless of whether it seems unconventional, overachieving, or imbalanced in the eyes of societal expectations.
Mercury Transits through Scorpio and into Sagittarius
When: Nov. 5th, Nov. 24th
Be curious.
Curiosity gets us far in our communications because curiosity does not judge. It merely seeks to understand.
Scorpio has a natural curiosity. And when Mercury enters Scorpio on the 5th, it causes us to crave mystery, secrets, and deep emotional connections. In a shallow way, it’s an excellent time to get those needs met by reading a mystery novel or watching true crime on TV. In a deeper way it’s also a good time to confront narratives surrounding self-worth, reckon with hidden or secret family histories, and solve mysteries.
Some weird squares take place from November 9th-21st this month, making our communications at times filled with opposing energies of passion/fury and detached idealism (thanks to Jupiter and Saturn in Aquarius). Take the long views, see the big picture. Ethics questions come into play. Outcomes-based decision-making is at it’s best. What is your larger goal here? What messages and narratives are hidden from you? Hidden family histories may come to light.
When Mercury transits into Sagittarius on the 24th, our thoughts turn to processing inner truth from ideas into lived experience. Enjoy adaptation and integration. Embrace your optimism. It is not naivety. It is your adaptability. It is your survival instinct. Embrace your capacity to endure hardship and still find reasons to hope.
Asteroids Intensifying and Supporting Other Aspects
Nov. 8th Pallas goes direct.
Pallas, an asteroid named for the Greek Goddess of Wisdom, finally exits its retrograde in Pisces, allowing us to integrate our new ideas about justice and allowing us to fully utilize our talents, wisdom, intuition, defenses, and negotiation skills. Be wary that the justice you seek reflects inner values and not inherited values from the status quo, authority figures, and elders. Fighting someone else’s battle is no path to self-actualization.
Nov. 14th Juno enters Capricorn.
Juno, goddess asteroid of commitment, enters self-disciplined Capricorn supporting the energy of the Venus in Capricorn transit.
Nov. 16th Vesta enters Sagittarius.
The brightest asteroid in the sky and the goddess of fire enters Sagittarius, lighting our soul's fire and asking us to consider what is sacred to us.
Nov. 17th Jupiter Semi-square Chiron
We learn to walk not by walking but by standing up and falling down over and over again. Walking is nothing if not a controlled fall. Mistakes and failures should be welcomed as great teachers.
Nov. 26th Saturn sextile Chiron
This is the final round of major aspects that have been building since February and June. Competence increases to heal the wounds of our world. Our interconnectedness helps us to understand how our unique selves are vital to the survival of humanity. Confidence and harmony abound. Embrace a humble life, pursue your goals with dogged enthusiasm to the benefit of all.
Sagittarius Season Brings Growth, Integration, Adaptation
When: Nov 21st - Dec 21st
Sagittarius, the free-spirited adventure, bold-hearted Gryffindor of the zodiac, is here. Mental fortitude increases. You now see how fortune favors the brave. Where once you saw obstacles, now you see welcome challenges that pepper your life’s journey, giving it contrast and bringing out its savory flavor. Opportunities arise out of suffering.
Make use of Sagittarius energy and honor your inner strength by adapting and integrating new changes into your life. Lean into what is sacred to you. Expand your worldview by trying out the three M’s of this mutable fire sign: seek meaning, meditate, and meditate. Know that the heart sees what the eyes cannot.
All this Sagittarius energy means now is also an excellent time to release the stress that’s been buliding over the year. Offer yourself the freedom of letting go. Ask yourself, what hard edges in your life need softening?
Know that your need for independence and freedom is not selfishness. It is your innate value of equality. Embrace it. Live your ideals, take aim, and watch as everything falls into place.
Astrology as a Tool of Self-Reflection
It’s important to remember that anything I write here is meant to be used as a tool of reflection and self-awareness and not as a hard prediction. The stars and planets do a lot of talking, but ultimately, we must decide our own path in life. Astrology is a tool we use to take the world's temperature and reflect on how we might respond. It helps us pay attention to our physical and emotional states and opens us up to new ways of navigating our thoughts and actions.
The Astro-literate are encouraged to read their moon sign (representing your inner self, the subconscious and the emotional self) and venus sign (represents what makes us happy and how you are in relationships).
Don’t know your moon or venus sign? Find out here.

This Month’s Major Transits
Aries (March 21 - April 19)
Last month was kind of intense, sure Halloween was a lot of fun, but you also had to spend a lot of time focusing on others' needs. As your ruling planet Mars travels through the underworld in Scorpio this month, you’ll be returning some of that focus to yourself. This month, your challenge will be to focus on yourself and avoid distractions on your path to self-actualization. Tie up loose ends this month so you can focus on what really inspires and drives you. The energy of this month might have you deflecting from self-actualization by obsessing over a new TV show, a new person, or a new hobby.
To Do’s: Be curious. Build strong foundations. Commit to long-term goals. Reconcile any opposing values or ideals you hold about power, freedom, having, and controlling. Embrace your instinct to survive.
Plant allies to work this month: Yarrow, Guarana, Cayenne, Nettle, Turmeric, Maca, Milk Thistle, Ginger, Ruda
Taurus (April 20 - May 20)
The Sun, the Moon, and Mars may seem to have it out for you this month as they oppose freedom-loving Uranus in your sign this month. It may feel like your patience is being tested at every turn. Don’t worry too much about what others are doing this month. Pay attention to any repressed parts of yourself that need your attention and allow them the opportunity to express what they need. This could bring about some big shifts for you, your identity, spirituality, and way of walking through the world. Embrace change as the inevitable consequence of living a full life. If you’re struggling with changes in a relationship, remember that growing together and growing apart are always on the table. And just because one thing shifts doesn’t mean you lose what you had before. You are a culmination of all your experiences and memories are forever. When the full moon rises in your sign, your tender heart will thank you for it.

Your ruling planet Mercury is direct and out of RX, and you finally feel like you have the opportunity to move about freely. Use the energy of this month to bring some balance to your work/home life. Cancer (June 21 - July 22)
Sweet Cancer, I’ve got good news about this month. Venus and Juno entering into commitment-oriented Capricorn will bring a lot of opportunities for love, pleasure, and partnership into your life this month. This is an excellent month for you to build lasting relationships and commitments, find love, find a life coach, and deeply commit to your long-term goals. Just take it slow. Everything happens one moment at a time. Also, you might be feeling extra expressive or protective of your feelings at certain points in the month (thanks to Scorpio and Taurus energies), and that’s okay. Know that protectiveness is a result of your long-held bravery.
To Do’s: Be curious. Build strong foundations. Commit to long term goals. Reconcile any opposing values or ideals you hold about power, freedom, having, and controlling. Embrace your instinct to survive.

Leo (July 23 - August 22)
Your mettle is being tested this month. Scorpio and Taurus’s clash in Uranus (see above) might have a big impact on you this month, creating tension and chaos at home and at work, especially around the full moon. Your challenge this month is to go with the flow and ask for help when you need it. Your friends would love the opportunity to return the warmth you share with them. Be yourself, let your guard down, and lean into what's sacred for you. The new moon especially could bring about a pleasing home situation for you. But even if things are still being worked out, the Scorpio energy will pass, and when fellow fire sign Sagittarius takes over at the end of the month, things will balance out, and you’ll be back on top once again.
To Do’s: Be curious. Build strong foundations. Commit to long-term goals. Reconcile any opposing values or ideals you hold about power, freedom, having, and controlling. Embrace your instinct to survive.
Plant allies to work with this month: Hawthorn, Ruda, Saffron, Motherwort, Amanita Muscaria (use as a good luck charm, but don’t eat it, amanitas can be hard to distinguish and are notoriously deadly), St. Johns Wort
Virgo (August 23 - September 22)
Your intellect is enjoying the challenges of this month, so lean into it. Everything that was stalled in your life is now flowing free. Your achievements are unbounded as your ruler Mercury is once again moving forward and not somersaulting over backward in retrograde. Things will pick up speed quickly in your projects, but you may still be working up to your full capacity, so be sure to take breaks and make time to relax and have fun so that your efforts can be sustainable. With Venus in your fellow Earth sign Capricorn this month, you may also benefit from going on some fun dates or hosting some fun game nights.
To Do’s: Be curious. Build strong foundations. Commit to long-term goals. Reconcile any opposing values or ideals you hold about power, freedom, having, and controlling. Embrace your instinct to survive.

In the meantime, invest in your future and expand your financial stability by diversifying your wealth portfolio: try following stocks and investing in cryptocurrency. Try day trading. All you need is a phone and an extra few hundred dollars. Just don’t put up anything you aren’t willing or able to lose.

The subconscious mind can be a fickle and symbolic creature, but there is nothing unconscious about it. This realm of possibility is beckoning. Spending time alone to connect with that source of inner knowledge will help you deepen and strengthen your intuition this month. With some practice, you could be at peak psychic strength by the full moon, allowing you to manifest the release and changes you’re making in life. You may need these things when your home life may take an unexpected turn this month. Step into your authentic desires with enthusiasm and without judgment. Use the Scorpio and Capricornian energy of this month to zero in on your goals and make them a reality. Your ruling planet in Taurus may be pushing you to remake your physical and financial goals. Your desire to compete is not arrogance. It’s your desire for progress. Embrace it. Jupiter is in your sign and brings you luck with every step you take towards your soul's journey.
