For the supposed school cuts, to say we are missing out on $2,764 in per student funding is a false premise. Your readers deserve a more accurate understanding of school funding.

Stronger citizen oversight is what is needed to enforce the elected servants to do the will of the people.

John Nelson, a former educator himself, has devoted a huge amount of time and energy serving on this board already from his current and past service in this capacity. As a former Board member, I have had the opportunity to see his thoughtfulness, concern for children and educators alike, and a genuine interest in helping improve the educational system in action.

I have known John Nelson for over 10 years, first as a SMART volunteer reader, and later in Kiwanis. John’s history of public service is impressive. He was an Elementary School teacher for 24 years with 21 years of service at the Warm Springs Elementary School.

I know John to be sincere in his support of public education, he wants the best for all the kids in D21. He is also kind, open minded, and interested in learning things himself which makes him a natural leader and facilitator.

I wholeheartedly endorse John Nelson for the Zone 4 seat on the board. Not only does he have significant experience being on the school board, he is a former educator who taught for more than 24 years.

John has served for 12 years on the board, through many challenging and turbulent times, always trying to help our school district weather the storms, while caring for and educating our children the best it can.
