Excessive heat warning issued for Aug. 14 to Thursday, Aug. 17
From the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration:
* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with temperatures up to 103
to 109 expected.
In The Dalles, Forecasters from Weather Underground are calling for 102 degrees today, Aug. 13, with a high of 111 degrees on Tuesday, Aug. 14, and then backing down to 101, on Thursday, Aug. 17.
* WHERE...Portions of central, north central and northeast
Oregon and central, south central and southeast Washington.
* WHEN...From 11 AM Monday, Aug. 14 to 11 PM PDT Thursday, Aug. 17.
* IMPACTS...Extreme heat will significantly increase the
potential for heat-related illnesses, particularly for those
working or participating in outdoor activities.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The hottest temperatures are forecast
Tuesday afternoon with widespread chances (95-100%) of exceeding
100 degrees for most of the lower elevations of central, north-
central, and northeast Oregon as well as central, south-
central, and southeast Washington. Medium-high confidence
(65-90% chance) exists in the warmest locations exceeding 105 on
Tuesday. Confidence is still very high (90-100%) in exceeding
100 degrees Wednesday and Thursday. Low temperatures in the mid
60s to 70s will provide very limited overnight relief.
