The Dalles, Ore. January 9, 2024 — Leo Ruis, Jose Ledesma, and Aurelio Marquez, above, were putting down their footprint at The Foley in The Dalles on Tuesday, Jan. 9 as strong winds and rain pelted the area. The three work at Schuepbach Builders of Hood River, which is now into building forms to pour a new walkway at the restored Plantation-Colonial Revival at 106 E. Fourth Street.
The office and workspace owned by Heidi McBride has undergone renovations of late, including stabilizing a column on the front porch, promising to keep the architectural jewel intact for years to come.
Time is of the essence as forecasters are calling for a deep chill starting on Friday, Jan. 12, with a high-percentage chance of snow.
Temperatures, at worst, are predicted to drop to 8 degrees Fahrenheit on Sunday morning.
Get your space heaters ready and check for unprotected pipes. That kind of temperature will guarantee a busted pipe if not insulated or kept warm.
