Wind Advisory for the Gorge Jan. 9-10

The Dalles Ore., January 8, 2024 – The National Weather Service has issued a high wind advisory for North Central Oregon and Southern Washington. A wind advisory will be in effect from 4 p.m. January 9 until 10 a.m. until 4 a.m. Wednesday, January 10. 

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicts Southwest winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts from 35 to 50 mph will impact the greater Portland area from 4 p.m. to 10 a.m. today before sweeping east through the Columbia River Gorge tomorrow, Jan 9.

Impacted areas will include the Columbia River Gorge, Hood River, White Salmon, The Dalles, Dufur, Maupin, Madras, Yakima and Pendleton.

The public is advised that gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. High winds coupled with rain could reduce visibility while driving. Please use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high-profile vehicle. It is also recommended to secure outdoor objects that could be blown about by the wind. .
