TD Police Station, 2 Vehicles Hit in Drive-by Shooting
The Dalles Police Department reported today, April 6, that two of their vehicles and their station were struck by bullets in what they believe is a drive-by shooting that happened 10 days ago on March 28.
Police released the information today, noting they could not do so until now because it was an ongoing investigation.
The alleged incident occurred at around 2:47 a.m., according to the press release after it was reported that shots had been fired in the area of the police department, 401 Court Street.
Police say the gunfire originated from E. Third St., directly outside The Dalles Police Department.
Officers were called to the scene and discovered two unoccupied police vehicles had been struck by bullets as well as the east side of the police building.
No one was injured.
“After contacting witnesses in the area it was determined that the gunshots may have originated from a passing vehicle as it traveled east on East 3rd Street,” the press release states. “It is likely that the Police Department, Officers, and the patrol cars were the intended targets and there is no known, specific threat to members of the public. “
The incident remains under investigation and anyone with information is encouraged to contact detectives with The Dalles Police Department at 541-296-2613, the release states.
