The City of The Dalles Police Department announced on Facebook that they will be conducting a traffic emphasis patrol in the coming week.
Concerns about theft, trespassing, public defecation and urination and policing brought a series of public policy discussions with The Dalles City Council at its regular meeting on Monday, July 24. Some crimes such as theft of packages off doorsteps or the finding of human fecal matter outside businesses have pushed locals to ask for additional help from the City.
When officers arrived, Troopers estimated that a crowd of more than 100 were gathered in the Rowena Crest Parking lot as 50 sports cars and their drivers were “racing and burning out their tires on US 30 and in the parking lot.”
A passerby reported the vehicle had no lights on and the vehicle appeared to be unoccupied. When Police arrived a short time later to check on the vehicle, they found a male laying in the middle of the bridge.
We’ve all been young and made poor decisions, no doubt, but children and youths might not understand the levity of what seems like a harmless action. So, it is important to talk it through with kids so they understand that their idea of fun might land them in pretty hot water. With the last day of school set for Friday, June 10, parents might do well by having a quick discussion with their children about when jokes turn bad.
A Red Ford Pickup was seen by multiple eyewitnesses with The Dalles Police and Wasco County Sheriff’s Office in Pursuit. Even with spiked tires, the suspect led law enforcement officials on a speedy chase through town.
