Oregon Tradeswomen offers Introductory Trades Career Class in TD for women & transgender individuals
Oregon Tradeswomen is now enrolling for our Laborer-focused pre-apprenticeship training for women and transgender individuals in The Dalles on Jan. 24th. The introductory class provides insight into the trades and students can elect to enroll in a 5-week course that could lead to an apprenticeship and good money.

Dixon will also play The Pines in HR starting at 6 p.m. Miles From Nowhere, a four-piece band from Central Oregon will bring a set filled with Classic Rock, Blues, Country and Alternative to Zim’s in TD on Saturday, Dec. 3, starting at 7 p.m.
Snow Sisters usher in Holiday Magic with help of GD Reindeer
The Snow Sisters and Goldendale Reindeer Farm are creating a ton of holiday magic for local youths this Christmas Season as they offer events around the Gorge. Tegan Shermikas takes along for the ride as the Sisters work their magic. Sounds pretty fun. We wish we were 5 again.
Gabba Gabba Hey, Turkey Trot underway
The Second Annual Turkey Trot 5k Run/Walk Family Fun Run in The Dalles got underway this morning, our day of the bird, Nov. 24. More than 200 people showed up in their best Thanksgiving duds. This year, all proceeds will go toward the TD Backpack program and then those dollars will be matched by Columbia Gorge Motors up to $5k.

Tribal members to lead Gorge Commission in 2023 following historic vote

For the first time in the history of the Columbia River Gorge Commission, a member of a federally recognized tribe will lead the organization. During the November 8, 2022, Commission meeting, Carina Miller, of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, was elected as Chair of the Commission.
City of TD Votes to Settle suit with The Oregonian
The Dalles City Council voted in favor of settling a lawsuit with the Oregonian in regard to a public record request about the water usage of the first three google data centers in The Port of The Dalles on Monday, Nov. 14 at about 8 p.m.
Local Family Fights to Save Lake Taco with Kickstarter
Lake Taco, an authentic family Mexican restaurant run by Maria and Enrique Ortega located at 1213 June Street in The Heights of Hood River, is in danger of closing its doors forever. But this family run business isn’t going down without a fight. Lake Taco has started a Kickstarter to help them raise $40,000 to get their business up and running at their new location (606 Oak St.) in downtown Hood River.

Hey, The Gorge: Turkey Trot looks hot for Thanksgiving
Turkey Trot in The Dalles on Thanksgiving could bring a lot of gravy to The Dalles Backpack Program. Columbia Gorge Motors will match all proceeds dollar for dollar this year and give it to the volunteer program that sends backpacks of food home with local students each week.
The Work Shop gets warm welcome at grand opening on Nov. 11
The couple purchased and revamped the spacious store allowing for easy shopping and great displays, including an awesome shuffleboard-turned-sales table for grab-and-go items. An antique truck is on display in the front window. The space has a creative and fun ambiance. For the grand opening, The Pines Winery had a tasting, and Al Hare provided the music on his six-string.

TD rolls out Veterans Day Parade today, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m.
A hardy crowd turned out for the Veterans Day Parade today, Nov. 11, in downtown The Dalles. Parade watchers donned coats, blankets, caps, and gloves to combat temps in the mid-30s.
Veterans Day Parade on Tap for Friday, Nov. 11, in TD
Our event will start with a flyover in honor of our veterans at 11 a.m., according to an announcement from The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce. The parade will begin at the corner of Webber and 6th streets next to Burger King. It will Continue east on Sixth and then roll onto 3rd Street and then west on 2nd Street where it will end at The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce.

Antonio Martines owner of FC&M Construction uses a finishing trowel to smooth the sidewalk next to the new concrete apron for the Rio Grande Taqueria this afternoon, Nov. 10. The Taqueria is expected to open in weeks to come.
