The Dalles City Council is set to decide on Monday, Nov. 8 on whether to enter into a $28.5 million agreement with Google for a massive potable water and sewer upgrade in The Dalles.

The program now runs year-round. It covers all types of heating, including propane, electric, gas, oil, coal, and wood. Those using wood sources receive a vendor voucher. The vendor would request reimbursement through Washington Gorge Action Programs (WAGAP).

Mid Columbia Community Action Council is preparing for 10,175 shelter bed nights from November through March: more than double the number of shelter bed nights that were available last winter.

The Dalles Riverhawks football team played against the Rex Putnam Kingsmen last Friday night in The Dalles. It was a cold night and senior night for the 7 seniors on the team. Oregon Gov. Kate Brown announced this morning that the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is authorized for children ages 5-11. Vaccine appointments are available at local doctor’s offices and several local pharmacies in The Dalles. Sherman County residents can also sign up for the vaccines at the clinic in Moro.

The City of Dufur has a boil water notice in effect for local residents after receiving a positive test for E. coli at a single testing site according to Public Works Superintendent Brandon Beauchamp. Beauchamp said today, Nov. 2, at 1:45 p.m. that they had shocked the well with chlorine and were flushing pipes to kill and remove the bacteria from the system.

Honald Crane took part of this heating, ventilation and air conditioning system to the air on Tuesday morning, Nov. 2 at Court Street downtown The Dalles. The company was working in concert with Oregon Equipment to install the new system on the building that houses Columbia River Affordable Portables, Mary’s A-Tax and Windermere Real Estate.
