Sep 20 Gorge Commission recognizes Sondra Clark; works on bi-state compact

Commissioners voted unanimously in favor of a Resolution Appreciation for former member Sondra Clark, who passed away recently. They also approved a request from staff to work with both the Washington and Oregon legislatures to make changes to the bi-state compact that created the Gorge Commission.

Sep 19 Old World Carpenter digging into the "Father of Dalles City"

Old World Carpenter Tobias Ammon has dug into one of the oldest houses in The Dalles in his effort to restore the porch. The house’s original owner N.H. Gates known as the Father of Dalles City carried the incorporation of the City of The Dalles through the legislature in 1857 - two years before Oregon gained statehood.

An accident occurred on September, 13th, at approximately 10:47 p.m. on I-84 in The Dalles, OR, near Coastal Farm and Ranch. Police reports indicated that a car crashed into a tree, leaving two individuals injured, prompting a response from emergency services, including Life Flight.

The store which won last year’s Best New Business of the Year Award, will have its final farewell celebration on September 23rd. Sep 13 Oregon’s Nonfarm Payroll Employment Declines by 1,200 in August

Oregon’s unemployment rate stayed at 3.4% in August, the same as July. This tied Oregon’s record low of 3.4%, which also was reached in November and December 2019. Since May, Oregon’s unemployment rate has been below 4%. The U.S. unemployment rate rose from 3.5% in July to 3.8% in August.

The Gorge Technology Alliance (GTA) and the Columbia Gorge STEM Hub share the mission of ensuring equitable access to quality STEM experiences for all students. The two organizations are collaborating to sponsor competitive robotics throughout the region, by providing much-needed grant funds to Oregon and Washington competitive robotics teams.

A 4 acre fire was reported near Ridgetop Road south of Dufur, OR today at around 3:09 p.m. the fire is contained and is now on mop up. Wasco County Sheriff’s office issued a Level 3, GO NOW evacuation order for all of Sportsman's Paradise, Upper Fifteen Mile Rd to Dufur Valley Rd and all of Ridgetop Rd.
