Department of Children, Youth, and Families Gives Grant for Assess Rural Home Visitation Needs

In an effort to bring home services to all counties in Washington State, the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) has awarded Washington Gorge Action Programs (WAGAP) a Rural Home Visitation Exploration grant for $30,000 to complete a needs assessment for Klickitat and Skamania counties.

Old World Carpenter Tobias Ammon has dug into one of the oldest houses in The Dalles in his effort to restore the porch. The house’s original owner N.H. Gates known as the Father of Dalles City carried the incorporation of the City of The Dalles through the legislature in 1857 - two years before Oregon gained statehood.

First Day In A New Space: Backpack Program's New Location Streamlines Student Food Access

Today the Community Backpack Program had their first day of operation at their new location at Columbia Gorge Food Bank located at 3525 Crates Way, in The Dalles. Volunteers packed 195 bags with take-home weekend meal supplies for food insecure students in the area.
