Support work, job coaches make big impact, can earn health care

At times, we all need a little help. Here in our communities, there are many people who have developmental and intellectual disabilities who have jobs and live independently. But they can't always do it alone. Oftentimes a personal support worker or a job coach is needed to help them in daily or work-related tasks. Is this the job for you? It’s a nice way to earn some extra cash, even get health benefits. Oh, and change a life.

UPDATE: Wasco County Bans Fireworks amid Heatwave

The City of Dalles is enacting a fireworks ban in the city limits through July 9 because of the historic heatwave the region is currently undergoing. Multiple cities in the region, including Hood River, are following suit. The ban will have no effect on large aerial displays permitted by the state fire marshall in both The Dalles and Hood River.

Gorge Youth Mentoring (GYM), a program of The Next Door, announces its summer-time virtual fundraiser: GYM Gets You Moving!
