Lyle School District has announced a new last day of school, pre-k and kindergarten round-ups, and new student registration dates.

Conservation District is ready to unveil Farm Tool Library in White Salmon on April 20, just in time for Earth Day. The collection of tools will be loaned out to spur small-scale agriculture in the local area.

Five kits are available to help reduce startup costs and to inspire people thinking about starting a childcare operation. Kits offer new providers various supplies for caring for children. The kit includes essentials like diapers, wipes, a bottle warmer, child-safe silverware, plates, and bowls.

State laws protecting victims of sexual assault vary but are improving. In the past few years, Washington State has had several bills signed into law and funding included in the budget that supports victims and survivors of sexual violence. One example includes dealing with a backlog of over 6,000 untested sexual assault kits and reducing the time it takes to process kits to 45 days.

As the Vice President of Learning Experiences at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, Deb Mumm-Hill led the camps, education, outreach, research, and exhibit-design teams.

"We also see an opportunity to expand service to other locations such as Dallesport, Wishram, Trout Lake, and perhaps at In Lieu sites to serve our Native communities," aid Leslie Naramore, WAGAP Executive Director. "A Mobile Food Pantry will allow us to do this."

Abby Brandt Whalin was chosen to head the team of Community Health Workers in White Salmon, helping locals find a path to a more healthy life. “I think working with people on their worst days makes you appreciate the rest of the days that you have. I feel privileged that people are willing to call an organization like WAGAP and share when things are really hard because that can be the hardest time to open up about your struggles,” Whalin said.

Volunteer firefighters from White Salmon, Bingen, and Klickitat County Fire District 3 responded to a trailer fire on Cook-Underwood Road near the mouth of the White Salmon River at 2:33 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 26.

The Klickitat County Health Department (KCHD) was notified today, on January 11th that the COVID-19 Omicron variant has been identified in Klickitat County.
