Student Lead Tour of TDHS reveals ‘Heartbreaking’ Struggle for ADA Compliance
In case you missed it: In this report about ADA accessibility in The Dalles High School, CCCNews followed 16-year-old Larkin Hampton as they attempted to access the entire school. Hampton is not disabled, but rather had a temporary ankle injury; however, Larkin’s temporary condition made it possible for CCCNews to get a clearer understanding of the challenges a person with disabilities might encounter while attempting to attend TDHS.

At the heart of it, it is refreshing to see neighbors and friends coming together to make an overall improvement to the community and possibly motivate others who see them to think about what they might do to make The Dalles a better place to live.

TD Farmers Market's Grand Harvest Celebration: A Pumpkin Extravaganza on Oct. 14
The embrace of autumn is upon us, and what better way to savor the season than by joining The Dalles Farmers Market for their highly anticipated "Harvest Festival." Reminder: City-wide Storm Water Catch Basin Cleaning
The Dalles Public Works crews will be cleaning stormwater catch basins throughout the City. The purpose of this work is to protect property and the environment. Cleaning catch basins allows for efficient drainage into the stormwater conveyance system.
Column: Local Grads Make the World A Better Place Episode 7; Meet Rachel Cole Miller
Sometimes kids need a helping hand. When Rachel Cole Miller, a local successful restauranteur, was a sophomore at The Dalles High School, she had a baby. Rather than be shunned and kicked out of school, she was able to attend a childcare program provided by the school district. She was able to continue her studies. Without that support, she doesn’t think she would have graduated. She and her husband Jason are now owner-operators of Zim’s.
Hermiston provides insight into what Career Tech could be in TD with new school
These are the classes where students get their hands dirty, doing actual jobs that exist outside the classroom and in the real world. Career and Technical Education would be given room to grow in The Dalles if the bond for new high school passes on Nov. 7th. We took a look at nearby Hermiston High School to get a better understanding of the opportunity.

The Dalles High School Graduate Asher Young and a team of nine other individuals including Director Wade Fisher, and Actor Casey Emmerling won Best Picture, Best Actor, and Best Director at the Portland 2023 48 Hour Film Project.

The Dalles Wasco County Library will host a month’s worth of events centered around Neil Gaiman’s Newbery award winning The Graveyard Book, tale about a boy who is raised by ghosts. New PAC Seeks to Replace Wasco County DA Matthew Ellis
A non-partisan political action committee (PAC) concerned with crime called Save Wasco County has formed in The Dalles, OR. Two people, including the Mayor of The Dalles, said the PAC was to fund a campaign to bring a challenger against District Attorney Matthew Ellis in next year’s May primary election.
