Chemical Tank Explosion at AmeriTies to be inspected by DEQ, OSHA today, March 10
This morning the 55,000-gallon tank was still smoldering as black plumes of smoke filled the air above the silver tanks next to the railroad tracks on Tie Plant Road east of The Dalles Marina. The tank contained copper naphthenate, which is a copper-based, oil-borne wood preservative. It is a replacement for creosote in railroad ties and as a replacement for pentachlorophenol in utility poles, according to Nisus Corp.
TA Express in Biggs burned to the ground; pumps survive; no one hurt
By 8:30 a.m. there was nothing left of the building except for the metal skeleton structure that was erected just three years ago.

Chickens able to fly the coop, survive Tree Fire on 10th Street in TD
The tree that caught on fire was along west 10th St., as the property lies on a corner lot. According to police, no one was harmed in the blaze. A quick response led to a speedy extinguishing of flames.
Facebook posts following the fire stated that no chickens were injured.

Residents of Grass Valley are still unable to return to their homes this morning, Nov. 21, as possible chemical contamination from a Hemp processing plant fire is assessed.
TD man goes through window to escape fire, alerts others
“One resident was transported to the hospital after he escaped from the residence,” Palmer said. “He was sleeping in a room and had to escape through a window and in so doing injured his arm. It’s possible he had some smoke inhalation too.”
