The Winslow Road Fire has been successfully halted, as reported by the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) Central Oregon. The fast growing fire was propelled by winds up to 45 mph, and quickly grew to 950 acres of land. The terrain included a mix of timber, brush, and recently harvested wheatland.

Oregon State Police reports detail two semi-trucks crashing into the Columbia River near Biggs Junction within three and half hours of each other on Friday, Aug. 25, and Saturday, Aug. 26.

Updated: August 29, 2023 at 3:25 p.m. A 300 acre fire is burning along Winslow Road South of Dufur, OR. Evacuation orders in in affect for the area.

A fire was reported at Inside Out Fitness located at 15 3rd St in downtown Hood River, was reported this morning at 7:51a.m. Hood River Fire and Resuce, Mid Columbia Fire and Resuce Wy’East Fire, Mosier Fire and Cascade Locks Fire responded to the scene. “This all happened in seconds,” said Richard Dant, owner of Inside Out Fitness.

People return to The Dalles to reconnect with the community. As he put it, “I want to push the ball forward.” His priority is not pay, it’s people. 

Fifth-grade student Addie Underhill of Dufur School was selected as one of thirteen winners in a statewide annual Calendar Art Contest sponsored by Oregon Agriculture in the Classroom (AITC). Addie's artwork was selected among 1,722 entries submitted to the contest showcasing diverse agricultural and natural resource commodities.

It’s a great reminder for drivers to add a little caution tomorrow morning as some kids will be walking to school and additional bus and car traffic will be on the road and around school drop-off sites. School speed zones are set at 20 miles per hour to ensure students safely make it to their classrooms.

Wonderworks Children’s Museum with a lot of help from local utilities, police, fire, U.S. Forest Service and more put together a block of trucks and equipment so inviting on Saturday, neither child nor adult could keep their hands off.

After serving up ten years of entertainment in downtown Hood River the iconic venue's final shows will take place August 30th and 31st. Meanwhile plans to reopen the venue at a new location in The Dalles are underway.

Biggs Junction, OR, August 26, 2023– The Sherman County Sheriff’s Office Facebook Page posted photos of two semi trucks which crashed into the Columbia River near I-84 milepost 104 (Biggs Grain Elevator) just hours apart on August 25th, 2023. 

Barbers from Last Hope Barbershop donated their time to cut students hair for free at Wy’East Middle School Gym on Friday August 25th, from 4 to 6 p.m. The event aimed to uplift students' spirits for going back to school and foster a sense of togetherness within the Hood River community.

The Dalles Cascade Singers are having a special concert featuring works written or arranged by local musicians. “Composers and Arrangers” is Saturday September 23rd at 7:00 P.M. and Sunday September 24th at 2:00 P.M. in the Zion Lutheran Church sanctuary.

Bargeway Pub will be feeling it Saturday, Aug. 26 as Kevin Selfe and the Tornadoes bring a storm of blues that will put you in a pocket so hard visions of every past lover you ever had will walk across your mind and back out the door, yet again. The Gorge also remains maximus festivus as Music Fest of the Gorge in HR and Huckleberry Fest in Bingen slam the weekend.
