Zachary Jean Krohnke, 32, of La Pine, who is a suspect in the death of a woman in The Dalles, is being held in Deschutes County Jail on no bail in relation to another case where he allegedly attempted to murder an escort in Bend on Aug. 28th.

St. Mary’s Academy Secures $300,000 in Grants for Enhanced Security and Disaster Preparedness
St. Mary’s Academy recently received award notifications of two $150,000 grants through the Oregon Department of Emergency Management (ODM). ODM administers the Non-profit Security Grant Program (NSGP) made available to Oregon non-profits from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). These funds are part of a larger, nearly $20 Million, grant awarded throughout the State of Oregon for security and disaster preparedness.
Klickitat County's 'Gina's Place' Shelter: A Lifeline for Domestic Violence Survivors
In August of 2022, Washington Gorge Action Programs (WAGAP) opened a new shelter in Klickitat County, providing temporary safe housing to those fleeing domestic violence. Managed by the team at Programs for Peaceful Living (PFPL), it was dubbed “Gina’s Place” in honor of State Representative Gina Mosbrucker, who championed the effort to bring Capital Funding to a County that had been without a domestic violence shelter for over two decades.
