Kara Davis launches Campaign for Wasco County District Attorney
The Dalles, Ore., Jan. 22, 2024 — Kara Davis officially declared her candidacy for the position of District Attorney of Wasco County, Oregon. Born and raised on a cherry orchard in the county, Davis graduated from The Dalles High School.
Election for District Attorneys in both Hood River and Wasco counties is slated for May 21, 2024.
“My roots in Wasco County are deep and proud. I look forward to ensuring that all people of Wasco County are safe and able to prosper in this wonderful place,” said Davis in a press release. “I am committed to ensuring that those who commit crimes are held accountable, that the people they harm are heard, and to work hard to reduce the impact of addiction and mental illness.”
Born and raised in Wasco County, Kara Davis is a hometown success story. Kara studied and worked around the country and the world. Kara served as a public defender in Pendleton, a waitress in Dublin as well as a stint working at MacDonald’s. She graduated Magna Cum Laude in law from the University of Miami and was elected to the Pendleton Library Board. She is serving as District Attorney for Gilliam County and Chief Deputy District Attorney for Wasco County.
Current Wasco County District Attorney Matthew Ellis has endorsed Davis.
Ellis has thrown his hat in the ring for the Hood River County District Attorney seat after it became clear Current Hood River District Attorney Carrie Rasmussen would not run again for the post. Those announcements came on Jan. 12.
“I would not have made the difficult decision to leave the Wasco Office without knowing it would be in good, local hands,” Ellis said.
