With the August 1, 2023 Primary Election just around the corner, voters in Klickitat County are eagerly awaiting their opportunity to cast their ballots. The election, set to take place on August 1, will determine new school board members for the Wishram and Lyle school districts. Additionally, voters will have the chance to decide on the Recreational Facilities, Activities, and Swimming Pool Maintenance and Operation Levy proposed by the Central Klickitat County Park and Recreation District.
A fire occurred at Hot Wok Restaurant and Lounge located at 600 State St in Lyle, WA in the early afternoon of April 21st, 2023.
The Lyle School District is asking voters to approve a three-year replacement levy that would maintain current funding levels while reducing the proposed rate per $1,000. The levy, which would be in effect from 2024 to 2026, would fund staff positions, athletics, music, art, classroom supplies, coaches, and bus service outside of what the state funds.

The Howards Haven Animal Sanctuary will host its 4th annual Pumpkin Patch event on October 23rd and 24th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 37 Monogan Howard Rd in Lyle. The event is free to attend although donations to the animal sanctuary are encouraged.

Lyle Community Council will be hosting their first-ever “Walk About Lyle'' community fundraising event on September 25th from 9 a.m to 3 p.m. The Council hopes that the event will help foster community, promote healthy exercise and eating habits, celebrate the beauty and history of Lyle and raise awareness of the council’s efforts to better their community.
The Lyle School District Board of Directors is seeking a district resident to fill an at-large position on the board, which was vacated by Lisa Bren on July 28. The appointee will serve through the next general election in 2023, and may file for election to the position. Applications due by September 17th.

Updated July 14th, 2021. Fire has grown to 300 acres. A fire started in Lyle about mid slope on the hill behind Lyle High School at 7:30 PM on July 12th. By 10:11 the fire had reached an estimated 20-30 acres.

The locks were originally set to reopen on the 21st but ten additional days of repairs became necessary due to the discovery of cracking in the downstream miter gate during annual inspections by engineers.
The Forest Service in collaboration with Oregon Department of Forestry and Washington Department of Natural Resources will continue with controlled burn efforts today in area of Courtney Road between Lyle and Bingen. Crews spent the last two days working in the Catherine Creek and Courtney road areas to create fuel line breaks to prevent large forest fires and to restore Oregon White Oak habitat.
