On December 31, 2020, Columbia Basin Care joined a historic moment as employees and residents rolled up their sleeves to be among the first in the nation to receive the Covid-19 vaccine. "I'm so excited!" says Julie Kimbell, a certified medication aide who stands first in line for the Covid-19 vaccine. "Getting this vaccine means I can protect our residents, my family, everyone!"

Lyle Grad Makes Good - Fairfield Mgr. in TD earns international acclaim

On Thursday, Sara Hearn won the coveted Diamond General Manager of the year honor out of a field of more than 1,000 other national and international Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriott. “I was not even looking to change jobs”, the Lyle High School grad said of taking a position with the company in The Dalles in 2014. . “I just went to see what they had, and I met Patrick the owner, and it was golden.”

Riverside Gymnastics making it work- but for how long?

Harper Kane shows off some fancy footwork at a recent Riverside Gymnastics Academy outdoor practice. The statewide freeze on athletic clubs is putting the kibosh on indoor activities. So coach Audrey Hinatsu took it outside. Closures, however, are sacking revenue generators for nonprofit clubs such as Riverside as well as privately run athletic clubs. The Oregon Health and Fitness Alliance is asking Gov. Kate Brown to allow limited reopenings.

In the midst of a national explosion of food delivery services, Griffin Martin, 22, Liam Macleod, 22, and Andrew Scardina, 24, believe they are bringing something revolutionary to the game as they put an emphasis on quality. The men have become one with organization as they prepare bags of deliciousness at the Baldwin Saloon, recently reopened under the direction of Sunshine Mill’s James and Molli Martin.

Construction working around the clock in TD

A couple of construction projects in The Dalles have crews burning the candle at both ends. J.J. Castro Crew members Jaime Tello and Sergio and George Herrera were piling broken concrete this morning, Wednesday, Dec. 16. The work is being done in front of a new building in The Port of The Dalles near Klindt’s Cove.
