It’s not a leap to say we’re going through a time of big change. The elusive Hood River based fine artist Craig Luster, who has been making art in the Gorge for over forty years, has come out of the studio for the first time in years to host an art show featuring his latest body of work inspired by the #MeToo movement at Old St. Peter’s Landmark at 405 Lincoln St on September 2nd and 3rd from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. Music starts at 7 p.m!

Oregon Worker Relief announced a new round of financial assistance to immigrant Oregonians who have lost work due to the pandemic, but are excluded from other relief programs based on their immigration status. Affected workers can apply to receive between $625 and $2,500, depending on their situation.

Mid Columbia Fire and Rescue Capt. Eric Blumenthal offers up a boot to a driver who loves peace on Third Street, The Dalles near Clock Tower Ales. They are collecting money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) from drivers-by until 4 p.m. today, Friday, Sept. 2.

The fundraiser in its 66th year is a local favorite and a great chance to have a steak dinner with neighbors and friends while giving back to your community. The weather is supposed to be perfect. The Dalles First Friday events will be in full swing on Sept. 2 as local merchants find ways to give back to local schools and stay open until 8 p.m. Kaahreena Ochoco will hit her four-month mark at the event and will be giving to kindergarten teacher Courtney Middleton, while showing off her resale and consignment store, Per Diem Thrifts.

Riverhawk Run on Saturday at Discovery Center provided a chance for students and the community to run together in what is a preview of times to come as cross-country track gets started this fall.

Hotel California, a group of seven musicians will be dedicating themselves to the incredible run of music created by the Eagles in a concert set for Saturday, Sept. 3 in The Dalles. A grass fire was reported on Old Dufur Road Wasco County Dispatch at 12:59 PM near Highway 197 between mile marker posts two and four.

Day two of the Northwest Mural Fest brought a lot of vivid colors and exciting detail as 15 new murals are transforming the downtown corridor in The Dalles. Walldogs - artists and skilled sign painters were hard at it in the extreme heat on Thursday, Aug. 25, as works of art took shape and beads of sweat rolled.

Spend a day on a public bus in the gorge and you’re bound to meet all kinds of people. The Gorge TransLink motto is “Everybody rides”, after all but why do they ride? CCCNews spent a day on the CAT Bus in Hood River to find out.

Artists and sign painters from all over the country have made their pilgrimage to The Dalles. The Walldogs are out in full force with local volunteers as they are changing TD’s downtown with a host of new murals celebrating local legends that have influenced the town that we live in today. TD’s Emily Peterson continues to push on in her goal to hike the entire Pacific Crest Trail this season. She recently surpassed the 2,000-mile marker and will likely make it to Cascade Locks next week. But first a reunion with some new-old friends and some gorgeous scenery.
