TD city residents with service to a 32-gallon trash can will see their rate increase 10 cents to $21.89 per month. This includes the Household Hazardous Waste surcharge of $1.40. This morning at approximately 10 a.m., Wasco County 911 received multiple reports of a delivery truck that had gone into the Columbia River at Milepost 99 near Celilo Park. In a split vote, The Dalles City Council approved a new ordinance that will require businesses utilizing shopping carts to retrieve them within 72 hours of them being reported abandoned.

At the end of the day on Oct. 23, Wasco County Elections Clerk Lisa Gambee and her staff received 1,348 ballots back from our 14,693 eligible voters for a 9.17% participation rate. It appears locals are quite invested in voting in this off-election as the North Wasco County School District is proposing a 30-year $140 million bond to build a new high school at the SE corner of the Wahtonka High School property.
While the results of the last three weeks have been heady and exciting, The Dalles runners know not to count their riverhawks or districts before they’ve hatched. If anything, their strong showing at the district preview and the 3k tuneup will likely motivate the other Tri-Valley teams to outwork and out-kick them this week.
Reading is a critical skill for helping kids start, and stay, on a path to success in school and beyond. Across Oregon, students in early grades are still behind in reading skills as a result of the pandemic, which is a concern not only for educators and parents but for the entire community.
