After years of negotiations and a decades long court battle over dam operations, a historic partnership agreement has been signed by President Joe Biden, the Governors of Washington and Oregon and the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, Yakama, Umatilla, and Nez Perce, to restore wild salmon populations, expand clean energy production, and reinforce the economic benefits of the Columbia River system.

This March, Gorge residents can satisfy their cravings for delicious grilled cheese and support a worthy cause with Columbia Gorge Food Bank’s first annual Great Gorge Melt! Participating restaurants in Hood River, Wasco, and Sherman Counties are teaming up to offer delicious grilled cheese sandwiches, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Columbia Gorge Food Bank to aid hunger relief efforts throughout the Gorge.

Maryhill Museum of Art, situated on a hilltop overlooking the Columbia River, celebrates the myriad ways in which humans have interacted with this vital waterway in its 2024 special exhibitions, including The Columbia River: Wallula to the Sea and King Salmon.
